The Liebster award

 So I was nominated by Ellen Bourne to do the Liebster awards, I had absolutely no idea what they were but thankfully it was all explained on her post! Basically these are awards for bloggers who have under 200 followers 

The rules are 

Link bank to who nominated you 

Write 11 facts about yourself

Sounds easy enough!, lets begin.


So basically I have to give 11 facts about myself to begin with so here goes!

1.I'm obsessed with olives

2.I always try to finish a book but have only ever finished 3 

3.I treat my Macbook like my child

4.I get writers block far too often

5.I only ever own one pair of shoes at a time until they are ruined and get more

6. I enjoy a bargain more than the average person

7. I would much rather wear skirts & dresses rather than jeans 

8.I'm a snob when it comes to coffee and can only drink filtered 

9. It's hard for me to find a perfume that doesn't make me feel ill

10.The supermarket Morrisons makes me nervous (don't ask)

11. I love anything history and could watch documentaries for hours on end 


Okay so that was a lot harder than I thought but next part i'm going to answer some questions

1.If you could create & name a lipstick what would the colour and name of it be and why?

I would name my lipstick Dawn Breaking and it would be a dark orangey colour, I've always wanted a very specific kind of orange and I just think the sky in the evening in gorgeous and something to admire, Why not have it on your lips!

2.Who is your hero?

Morrissey ,Don't think I need to explain why!

3.Can you tell a story about how / why you got your name?

It's actually quite boring but basically since my mum got to name my brother my dad named me and he's just always liked it , I quite often get asked if it's after the place or the football team and sometimes lie just to make it sound a bit more interesting whoops

4.What is your pump up song?

It depends really what i'm getting pumped up for but an all a rounder would be Bad by David Guetta.

5.Favorite book?

The bell jar , Sylvia Plath.

6.Favorite actor?

Molly Ringwald

7. Three items you'd take on a desert island?

Ipod , like 3 litres of ice tea & breadsticks

8. Cats or dogs?

Both,I love both equally 

9. What can't you leave the house without?

Well the obvious answer would be my phone but also some my hand santizer ( I like to be clean)

Lipstick & Nail polish haul // Topshop

Recently I've picked up a few pieces from Topshop, I have been getting really into there lipsticks ,the packaging and the range of colours have just incised me in 

The first lipsticks I picked up were ohh la la// £8.00 which is a bright orange / Pinky colour which is quite sheer with the application , this is definitely a summer colour and really brightens the face, Along with another really summery colour is Innocent // £8.00 Which is quite a shimmery pink colour also quite sheer

I'm not usually into sheer colours and I think they wash me out and I think these were no different would definitely suit a darker skin tone.

Two that I picked up recently were Rio Rio // £8.00 , now this colour was right up my street when I picked up looked like a deep orange but after I took it home it was more of a dark red I don't know  what I was seeing in the store! but none the less red is my favourite lipstick colour and the application is just amazing.

Now the next on is a lip bullet Joyride //  £8.00 this is my favourite of all of them. On the stick it looks quite red but on application its quite a deep pink it goes on really flawless 

All lipsticks out of Topshop are currently 2 for £12.00 which is quite a bargain!

The nail polishes I got were 'All I need is aniseed' & 'Lost for words' both pinks , the All I need is aniseed is a deep pink with great application throne thing I was impressed by were how quickly they dried , this colour only needed one coat and it was good to good so this is great if you were in a rush , The same couldn't be said for Lost for words, a very pale pink that is sheer I had to put on three coats of this to get the desired colour but when it had dried the colour was just gorgeous

These two nail polishes were £5 each

Clothing & Accessories Haul // August

So today I have a very little , very black clothing haul for you lovely people.

I thought I had a lot more to show until I started taking these pictures but thought I should still put this up since I said in my last blog post I was going to do one

First things first (I'm a realist) I have a bone to pick with Topshop , the instant I saw these shorts I fell in love with them so I got my usual size and nipped to the fitting room and I could barely get the flipping thing over my thigh so I got the bigger size and it still didn't fit, so I did what any normal person done, I still bought them for when 'I loose weight' wow I can get them on but dare I try to sit down!

Hopefully you can see where I'm coming from on the not putting the shorts down and walking away! these were reduced from £38.00 to £15.00 in the sale!

Next thing I picked up in Topshop was this crop t shirt (that does fit) after watching melon ladys video about crop tops for bigger people I decided to experiment a bit and found this was perfect with high waisted shorts or jeans , This was £5.00 in the sale 

This dress I have literally fallen in love with , I got this out of H&M for £14 I always feel like every time I go in this store it's either realllllly nice items or just very dire , this however caught my eye as soon as I walked in the store and thought it was just very autumny 

I had first spotted this cardigan on a friend and wanted it instantly (lucky for her I controlled myself) and once she told me it was out of Primark for £14.00 I grabbed my running shoes and off I went, It's so perfect to just go over any outfit of these chilly nights and to add a little something else , it's not the most exciting piece but feel its a nice twist on a wardrobe essential 

Last couple of items are a bag and some shoes nothing interesting behind these but thought they were very nice staples and have hardly taken both of them off , the bag was £12.00 // Primark and the shoes were £19.00 (I think) out of new look

Little life update.

I've not been very present for the last month as you have probably realised (or not thats ok too) but my life has been all over the place in the best possible way.

I finally managed to land myself a full time job after such a long time and a lot of effort I've been paid for the months of hell.

Due to this little perk up I get in at night and the first thing on my mind is going straight into bed and sleeping obviously not before I catch up on my favourite blog and youtube channels, I barely been able to fit anytime to see friends. It's definitely been a life changing month for me and trying to adjust but i'm getting there and love every second of it.

Another massive plus of me getting this job as I will have better posts and content ( as I can afford to buy the things I want too ) oh and i'm typing this from my new Macbook!! so editing pictures etc etc will become a lot easier and not having to wait ridiculous amounts of time just for my laptop to switch on!

So I'll definitely been back with more blog posts if you're still interested in reading!

Sally Hansen maximum growth | review

So a while back now I decided to take the plunge and go back to college! The search for an ideal career wasn't getting anywhere and I thought I should just return to education and start getting qualified in a field that I love in beauty therapy!

So for an college interview there was a condition that you weren't allowed to wear nail enamel or extensions which I don't really know why I didn't guess before and I freaked!! I had nail tips on and knew that underneath was going to be a train wreck and yes yes it was 

Thankfully I got the email two weeks before interview so I had time to improve 

I have always had quite brittle and thin nails but as soon as I take extensions off like everyone my nails and just non existent which can be very irritating , I've also never really spent more than 3 days without nail enamel as I just can't stand the sight of bare nails but I had to push though and just get over my fear of it!

So I rushed to the shops to find some products which would assist with nail growth and just strengthening the nails and I came across Sally Hansens maximum growth for £4.89 

I thought it was a great price and has read really positive review about it and with promises of stronger nails in a week I knew this was the one I had to try out 

So two weeks down the line I can tell you this product is a definite go to with trouble nails , I got into a routine of filing and re applying every two days 

I think the strength was more noticeable than the growth which really wasn't a problem cause it was so strengthening I didn't see any breakage in the nail which I get very very often and why I usually cover up with fake nails , I would recommend this to anyone have trouble with short brittle nails!!

25 things I want to do this summer | thegreatcatsbyx

I've been inspired!

So last night on one of my late night tea drinking you tube video watching episodes I was having I came across Aflies videos 25 things to do this summer , I love these types of videos or blog posts as they just make me feel like I'm not the only one that needs to be a bit more productive and also inspires me in what they come up with no matter how big or small

I've specifically decided to do it this year as I'm sick of the summers passing (even winters and i'm in the same position as before (although last summer has got to be my best so far) so now i'm setting myself personal challenge to top last year and make it something to never forget and just a skill to gain on improving yourself.

So here we go!

1. See more shows 

2. Be involved in Edinburgh fringe festival

3. Talk to more people in any situation

4. Go on more walks in the morning 

5.  Get my skin in a better state

6. Not being afraid to go without tights ( too hot for them )

7. Have a massive BBQ with all my loved ones

8. Spend more night outside with my other half and the chimanea just talking

9. Start driving lessons 

10. Gut and change my room about and remove a lot of clutter 

11. Try and save some money from my pay

12. Read more books 

13. Get started in a new college course

14. Be more social 

15. Begin to go to the gym or go swimming more

16. Change my hair colour 

17. Attend some festivals 

18. Go on road trips to places I haven't seen

19. Definitely do more blog posts!

20. Make sure I surround myself with happy people

21. Eat my veggies & drink more water 

22. Do something completely out my comfort zone!

23. Listen to new bands

24. Go to free gigs in my local town

25. Make sure everyday I've done something that makes me happy 

So there is my list , it is quite intense if I say so myself but even if I achieve one thing off this list I will be proud of myself , as I've set out to do it and completed
